Color Throwdown # 483 Coral, Green, Kraft

I love the spring colors the artists at Color Throwdown have been challenging us with each week.  Today we get to create with coral, green, and kraft, and in the spirit of Spring renewal, I used recycled materials for my background.
This card began with a selection of tissue paper I saved from gifts I have received over the years. I chose paper that had the challenge colors of coral, green, and kraft, and tore them into strips.  The strips were Mod Podged onto a piece of white cardstock and left to dry.
The cardstock was cut to A2 size and "Happy Birthday" dies were centered on the cardstock panel and cut.  The dies I used were from the Spellbinders' February 2018 Large Die monthly kit. The happy birthday sentiment was also cut from pink craft foam, then the cardstock and foam sentiments glued together.

Prior to gluing the cardstock to a card base, you can clip out the pieces from between the letters, this makes it easier to replace the sentiment, but don't throw all those little pieces away, you have to put them back later.

Before Clipping

After Clipping
Glue the cardstock panel to a card base.  I didn't have one the right shade of green I needed for my card so I sponged white cardstock with Lucky Clover Distress Oxide Ink.

This is the part that lets us exercise patience as well as creativity. Glue the sentiment back in place. Because it is glued to a foam piece it will be raised.  Once that is dry put all those little pieces back in place.  They won't be glued to foam so they won't be raised. This technique makes the sentiment the focal point of the card centered in the patterned papers without interrupting the pattern.

This technique gives your sentiment extra, special impact, while using only a few supplies to create.

I hope you liked this card idea.  If you are interested in checking out the Color Throwdown Challenge go to
